I’ve recently started letting the thistle grow just off my stone porch.  Outside of my studio, I watch as the bees, butterflies and birds enjoy its flower; they know just where and how to land safely.  It’s so beautiful – but it’s thorny nature often portrays it a villain.  Not seen so by the Scots; the Scottish Thistle is Scotland’s National Flower.  Among the many characteristics the Scottish Thistle represents are courage and strength.  You’ll enjoy this brooch in connection with your heritage or as someone who embraces the spirit.
